WFC wrap up by all mighty King of the Jungle...
"As I sit here in my bright green and yellow tracky dacks, I can't
help but be constricted by thoughts of the WFCs... or maybe it's the elastic, it's hard to say.
One thing I can say
is that 20 intrepid, hardcore, Aussie floorball nutettes made the journey to the northern hemisphere and have every reason
to hold their heads high and proud on return to the mother land!
Although the team goal of making the semi finals was
not fulfilled - they fell only one step short - they showed the world that we're now playing floorball Down Under and can
match it with the best of the best.
At the end of the group matches, the Aussie girls were only outdone by the all-singing,
all-dancing Polish and Germans, who both made it through to the B Division final on the penultimate day of competition. Cotton
Eye Joe was Teary Eye Joe on the last day for the Aussies, asthey marched forcefully and relentlessly over Japan in the play
off for 5th place in B Division, making them without question, the strongest team outside the finals.
All the gossip
from the polse vagn vendors on Danmarksgade was about the Aussie girls campaign, the loss and subsequent return of the Princess
crown and only one question remained on their lips... why, oh why, do they wear Hawaiian shirts to the finals and after party?
So,
now the championships are over and the girls are either back home for work or study, or taking the chance while overseas to
see a bit more of the big wide world. We do know though, that each and every mind is already focussed clearly on playing for
top spot in Sweden 2009 :)
Girls... and Team Australia staff... I am supremely proud of you all, and it was an absolute
pleasure to be a part of the team again in 2007."
